20 Coloring Gifts Under $10 : 2016 Holiday Gift Guide
Sometimes it seems that coloring gifts are so outrageously priced, such as the set of pencils for several thousand dollars (really!). However, you don’t have to break the bank when buying coloring presents for the holidays, whether they are supplies or books.
Here is my list of gift ideas, all under $10.00. You could also use these as stocking stuffers, or bundle them together for a single, larger gift. Wrap a few and keep them hidden in a drawer for those “uh-oh” gift exchanges.
Note that prices in Canada and the UK, where available, and may be more, or even less, than the US$ equivalent. As well retailer prices on the internet change constantly, so double-check your cart before you check out.
Even if your giftee already has one of any of these, they can always use at least one more.
If the colorist in your life is on-the-go, or, like me, colors on their lap or in bed, they need a sharpener that catches the shavings. One of the reasons I like this well-priced sharpener more than others like it is that the top screws on and off. I find the sharpeners with snap-on lids tend to easily pop off after a little bit of use, and shavings spread all over. Average customer review 4.5 out of 5.
Available at Amazon.com for $3.69.
Pencil wraps are great because they hold each pencil individually so you can see your colors without digging. They also keep your pencils safe from breaking and are easy to carry. You can also use wraps for most pens and markers.
Colorless Blender Pencils
Colorless blenders are great gifts for colorists who love coloring not just for the mindfulness and stress-release, but for the satisfaction they get from the creativity. They can be used for intensifying colors, blending colors, softening edges, and getting rid of annoying paper speckling. I find these Prismacolor ones work with any brand of pencil and, unlike others I’ve used, don’t mute the colors. Two-pack.
Two-hole Pencil Sharpener
The blades on these tiny wonders are made of long-lasting and very sharp high-carbon steel. It only takes one turn to get a sharp point, minimizing pencil waste.
Electric Pencil Sharpener
As you color, you realize how handy an electric pencil sharpener can be. This one from X-ACTO comes with cool “Pencil Saver” feature that turns it off when your pencil gets to a point. This means you won’t over-sharpen – or waste – your pencils. Multiple pencil sizes mean you can accommodate the more comfortable-to-hold larger sized pencils. Average customer review: 4.3 out of 5 stars.

Pencil extender pack of 5
By using a pencil extender you can use almost every bit of a wood case pencil before having to throw it away. It becomes a writing instrument by making shorter pencils feel more balanced as it allows for a better grip.
White Gel Pens
White gel pens are super-handy for adding highlights to coloring, such as in eyes or water drops. In a pinch they can also help cover up little mistakes (although who really cares?). And even these top-of-the-line Sakura brand ones are inexpensive! Average customer review 4.6 out of 5 stars.
