Where’ve I Been? I’m Back!

Nothing like a pandemic to kick you in the butt and get you writing again!

After an amazing Christmas season in 2017, I took a “hiatus” and decided to focus more on the “retired” part of being retired, in particular traveling and cooking. I expected to take a break for a few months.

Occasionally I posted when inspiration hit, and tried to share coloring community items on my Facebook page. I am so amazed that you all have continued to visit and comment, and my Facebook family has quadrupled since then. I want to say thank you: if you are a first-time reader; if you have returned to continue the journey with me; and if you have connected with me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Thank you to all of you who have stuck with Adult Coloring 101 during my hiatus!

As for coloring itself, my coloring books and supplies stayed right next to my recliner and I continue to really enjoy it. The time gave me the chance to try other “crafty” activities as well, including needle felting and sewing.

Needle felting kitties!

However, the last few weeks of isolation have prodded me to do some introspection. I do miss writing. And I do miss the adult coloring community. So, I made the decision to get back in the adult coloring blog groove.

It has been fun to write this first return blog post. I have thought of four more while I wrote this one, and there are others already in the pipeline. I’m enjoying myself.

What would you like to see and read about in the adult coloring world? Let me know in the comments section below. And make sure that you have subscribed to receive my emails if you haven’t already.

  1. Wow, Maureen.. this is spooky but one of the first things I took up after retirement was EXACTLY adult coloring just as it came on the market as the new adult hobby! I’ve been impatient with a lot of things during house projects but discovered almost a Zen like groove when I colored, sometime into the early morning hours. The incredible focus transcended time. It was all about creating in the moment…

I love the felting kitties, sell them? I’d love to see the other stuff you’ve worked on. Welcome back in this crazy time

Sherry, I wouldn’t sell them – once this pandemic is over I will travel to Boston and gift them to my Mother. Other stuff: learned how to bake with yeast (Cinnabon fakes – yum!), little stuffed animals hand-sewn, origami, growing herbs outside….and thank you for the welcome back!!

  3. Hi all, yes I’ve been coloring the whole time. But now I mostly use the coloring apps on my tablet. There are many apps to choose from & you can choose some with numbers for colors or use apps where you choose your own colors. Fun to do during this stay at home time!
