Self-care with Therapy Threads & Giveaway – 2017 Holiday Gift Guide

therapy threads

It is not just the holiday season: life in general can be stressful, and it can wreak havoc on our minds as well as our everyday responsibilities.

Aromatherapy, which involves the use of essential oils as a complementary health approach, has grown in popularity as a way to de-stress, just like coloring. Some studies have shown that aromatherapy might have health benefits, such as:

  • Relief from anxiety and depression
  • Improved quality of life, particularly for people with chronic health conditions
  • Improved sleep
  • Improved quality of life for people with dementia

I use an electric aromatherapy oil diffuser (like this one), but how about surrounding yourself everywhere you go with kind thoughts along with the benefits of aromatherapy? Therapy Threads has you covered! Continue reading “Self-care with Therapy Threads & Giveaway – 2017 Holiday Gift Guide”

Coloring Planners – 2017 Holiday Gift Guide

planner

I know, I know – there is a smartphone app (or hundreds of apps) for that.  But if you are like me and many, many other folks, there is something comforting about a paper-based planner.

Why gift one? Sometimes it is nice to have a small coloring space for a mindful moment during your day that doesn’t overwhelm you.

If you have a coloring and planner junkie in your life and need a good holiday gift idea for them, here are some of my favorites.  Any of these would put a huge smile on a coloring and planner fan’s face! Continue reading “Coloring Planners – 2017 Holiday Gift Guide”

Easing Your Pain with the NAIPO Massager

I suffer from chronic back and neck pain from degenerative disc disease as well as herniated discs. And of course, I sometimes get sooo into my coloring that my neck and shoulders get tired and achy!

My physiotherapist and pain doctor have made heat and massage essential to my pain management program.  And my research has told me that massage may have other health benefits as well: it may help lower hormonal markers of stress and decrease blood pressure.  However, regular massages from a Registered Massage Therapist are pricey and kneading away the pain isn’t exactly my husband’s favorite past time.

So I’ve been looking into some options. Enter NAIPO, a company that makes many different massagermassage products such as their Shoulder Massager. Continue reading “Easing Your Pain with the NAIPO Massager”

20 Coloring Gifts Under $10 : 2016 Holiday Gift Guide

coloring giftsSometimes it seems that coloring gifts are so outrageously priced, such as the set of pencils for several thousand dollars (really!).  However, you don’t have to break the bank when buying coloring presents for the holidays, whether they are supplies or books.

Here is my list of gift ideas, all under $10.00. You could also use these as stocking stuffers, or bundle them together for a single, larger gift. Wrap a few and keep them hidden in a drawer for those “uh-oh” gift exchanges.  Continue reading “20 Coloring Gifts Under $10 : 2016 Holiday Gift Guide”

Three-Dimensional Christmas Ornament Coloring Book : Review & Giveaway

Thank you to Monika Mira and Lucid Publishing for sending this book to me This is my honest and unbiased review. I received no other compensation. This post does contain affiliate links.

Most of us have made Christmas ornaments at some point in our lives; in kindergarten I made a glitter-covered poinsettia out of egg cartons.  Unfortunately, after decades of love, my Mother interred it in the ornament cemetery (i.e. trash can). Christmas Coloring Cards & Crafts : 2016 Holiday Gift Guide

christmas coloringIt is two days until Thanksgiving.  Have you started Christmas yet?

Last year I really didn’t “do” Christmas as I had back surgery in November and hadn’t planned on not being able to move very well for over a month. But coloring holiday scenes, including Johanna Basford’s fundraising printables “tease,” kept me in the holiday spirit.

If I had wished for one thing to get me into the spirit last year, I would have dug into Christmas coloring cards, tags and crafts. This year, I am starting today! Continue reading “Christmas Coloring Cards & Crafts : 2016 Holiday Gift Guide”
